Eastern Forehand Grip - Alternative -

Most people learned to play with the Eastern forehand grip and have become very skilled at driving the ball fairly flat.  They love this grip and they do not want to change.  They became very accustomed to placing the knuckle on the base of their index finger on the large flat side of the handle, bevel 3.  With the Power -V- Grip facing forward they still have the large bevel 3 they are used to.

The Power -V- Grip adds another dimension to this beloved grip.  Not only will they still be able to drive the ball fairly flat as always, they will have the option of hitting a power topspin shot they did not have before. The additional leverage with the fingers locked around it (see photo above) will enable them to hit with steeper swing paths and much greater racquet head speed.  They will be able to generate the whipping action required to hit world class topspin forehands with the Eastern forehand grip.
