First, the bottom hand determines the racquet head angle.  The bottom hand is still in control of the stroke.  Like all the grips, your hand has to be in the exact same position every time for you to have the consistency and accuracy you need to compete successfully.  The PVG provides you with a high level of awareness as to exactly where your hand is on the handle.

Second, by having your bottom hand in the same position every time this makes the placement of you top hand more accurate also.  Now both hands will be exactly where you want them to be.

Third, if you have to move to the Continental grip to handle a low sliding ball you will have the super frame of reference for finding it, if you are not already in it, plus the great leverage and traction the PVG gives the Continental and all the other grips.

Forth, it is going to improve the performance of all the other grips you use.
